On Feb. 4, The Derailers will be kicking off a show with the great country music legend Ronnie Milsap! We’ll be performing with him at the Cendera Center in Ft. Worth Texas on Saturday February 4.  More information and tickets are available here.

Suffice to say, this will be an unforgettable evening of music you will NOT want to miss!

We are very excited to be once again headed north up to St. Paul Minnesota. We’ll be on the season opener show of “A Prairie Home Companion” with Garrison Keillor and his excellent cast and band.

The show is broadcast live from 5-7pm and then we’ll be a part of a street dance and meatloaf supper out in front of the theater. The street dance is free and open to the public. The show is produced by American Public Media and is broadcast on NPR affiliate stations worldwide. To see where to dial in in your area, go to http://prairiehome.publicradio.org/.

This is the perfect bridge between Chicken S*it Bingo and Heybale. We’ll count on seeing all the neighbors, and all the dancers!

We have a very good friend in Astronaut Dr. Stephen K. Robinson. He was one of the first to take an ipod into outer space, and he used it to play one of our songs (”Whatever Made You Change Your Mind?”) back to Mission Control just a few years ago.

Steve lives in the Houston area. He plays guitar and pedal steel and has come out to see our show at Blancos in Houston, Gruene Hall in Gruene, and the Broken Spoke in South Austin – as well as some other venues. At one point he extended to us an invitation to come take an astronaut-guided tour of the Johnson Space Center in Houston.

On Feb. 18, 2011 we did a show at Blanco’s in Houston. We decided to go early and take him up on his invitation. We took our families and it was lots and lots of fun. Here are some photos: (click on the photos to make them larger)

On September 25, The Derailers were proud to once again be a part of a live broadcast of Garrison Keillor’s “A Prairie Home Companion”. The folks up there in St. Paul took really great care of us and we had a wonderful time. The production of that show at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theater is really amazing, and the band that Mr. Keillor has assembled is just top notch. If you ever have a free Saturday night in St. Paul you should go check it out.

The show we did was the season opener. Every year APHC has a big street dance on Exchange Street to celebrate the season opener. The Derailers were the featured act on the street dance. The weather was unseasonably nice and we got to see a lot of our St. Paul friends that night. If you missed the broadcast, you can still listen to it online. It’s archived at the APHC website: http://prairiehome.publicradio.org/programs/2010/09/25/. We did “Hey Valarie”, “Guaranteed to Satisfy”, and “The Come On”. We were promoting our upcoming live record called “The Derailers: Live from Texas”. It’ll be released on Oct. 26 on Varese Sarabande Records.

The Armadillo Shootout will be happening at Threadgill’s South Tuesday August 24. There will be three bands playing that night: The Doug Moreland Show at 7, Two Tons of Steel at 8, and your pals The Derailers at 9.

This is going to be a great night of dining, dancing, drinking, relaxing, and music. All under the beautiful South Austin stars. There has been a lot of buzz about this event, and it’s going to be lots of fun. Listen, there isn’t anything else happening on Tuesday night that is worth missing this for. If you do miss it, all of your friends will be asking where you were. AND it’s an early show, so you’ll have plenty of time to get up and make it in to work or school on Wednesday (if you’re in to those kinds of things that is!).
