10.25.14 Home!

When I say “home” I mean the Broken Spoke, South Austin Texas – our “natural habitat”. After tons and tons of driving through Oklahoma and Texas, it was wonderful (and hot) to be in Austin again. The show at the Spoke was a flat-out, get-down party as always. Where do they find all those pretty girls? In November, the Spoke is turning 50. They are having special celebrations 10.31 – 11.08. ... Read more >

I love a trip where we can visit the Zoo Bar and the Mercury Lounge in Tulsa. Both of those venues are similar in a lot of ways. They are both dedicated to featuring excellent roots music (and us!) and both have established themselves among musicians on the road as places where a fun time will be had. Check out Backtrack if you are a vinyl records collector. Brian talked to Jeff about Beatles records, and I was able to find a couple CDs by regional bands The Coachmen, and the Heartmurmurs. Between Backtrack Records and downtown was a Runza restaurant. ... Read more >

10.21.14 (day off) Eagle Nebraska

On Tuesday we had a day off. It was good to sleep a little – especially following a night at Deuce Burbach’s Cocktail Lounge! I made eggs and bacon for Brian and Ed and after lunch I went out to help my parents clean up their garden. I guess I should explain (if I haven’t before) that my folks own a cabin on a lake near Eagle Nebraska. From Monday ... Read more >

10.20.14 Nebraska – the Good Life!

Hello! Long time, no blog. Sorry about that. When I’ve had the time, I haven’t had the wireless signal. When I’ve had the signal, I haven’t had the time. for the first time, I’m posting tour blogs from my phone, and there has been a bit of a learning curve… We left Denver on our way to the Cornhusker State. We were near Paxton NE so we stopped in for supper at ... Read more >
