07.05.15 back in Oslo

I don’t have a lot to tell about today. Just a few photos. We were sad (and maybe a little hung over)  when we left Vinstra this morning. We got to the Oslo airport hotel.  For some reason, the Oslo airport is not very near Oslo at all.  So we’re just kind of out here on her own. Brian went into the city to shop for records. Braken, Scott and ... Read more >

07.04.15 Independence Day

Happy Independence Day America! We spent the day early on goofing around the hotel.  In a weight room Bracken and I found a Norwegian flag arm wrestling table.  It is pretty impressive and in my opinion every household should have at least one.  Perhaps we should sell arm wrestling tables as derailers merchandise… We spent a lot longer at the festival today.  It was sunny, and brutally hot so Brian gave us ... 07.03.15 Vinstra Norway

*Just a note: I’m writing these all from my iPhone. besides the challenge of not having a real keyboard for typing, I have to constantly change the orientation of the phone depending on what I’m trying to do. So that’s why there is some weirdness here and there, like the order of the photos. It’s much easier with a mouse. on Friday we headed back to the train station and went ... Read more >

07.02.15 Oslo / Herr Nilsen

On Thursday July 2 we spent more time walking around and sightseeing. Bracken and I took our dirty clothes to a nearby laundromat (turns out Norway has a couple). Brian showed us a sculpture garden featuring little tiny human staues – some smaller than others. I was able to walk down to the sea, do some souvenir shopping, visit Oslo’s last remaining pipe store and see the Royal Palace. The ... Read more >

07.01.15 Oslo Norway

On Wednesday, our friend Andy whisked us away from breakfast and off we went to the Munich airport. We flew to Oslo with no difficulties. For some reason the Oslo airport is a long way from Oslo, so after a few attempts we got on a train for the city. Once we got downtown and checked in, everyone scattered. Bracken and I went to eat at a nearby Irish Pub. The ... Read more >

Augsberg etc. 06.30.15

As a baptized and confirmed LCMS Lutheran (with a couple years of parochial school) I had heard of the Diet of Augsberg and the Augsberg Confession. I’m not sure I can properly recount the story, but suffice to say Augsberg played a big role in Luther’s break from the Roman Catholic Church. The reformation happened (in part) right here. On Tuesday we had breakfast, lolly gagged a lot, and visited the ... Read more >

06.29.15 Neuschwanstein Castle

At the gift shop.   As I said, the sleep schedule is all off. Sunday night we stayed late at the Four Corners. We moved to a hotel practically next-door to the club. I stayed up all night, and at at some point in the wee hours I went to the hotel lobby to write some blog. When I finished that I went for a long walk. Breakfast at the new hotel ... Read more >
