Albuquerque, New Mexico

Neighbors, We love New Mexico. Last summer we had multiple gigs in New Mexico and Colorado. We stayed in Santa Fe a few times, which gave us the chance to try out some new restaurants. We are all fans of Hatch peppers and New Mexican cooking. Because of that, we were all looking forward to our New Mexico arrival. As much as we love Salt Lake City, that was a tough row ... Arches National Park

Pals, On Wednesday we had a drive day between Salt Lake City and Albuquerque New Mexico. We had lunch south of SLC near American Fork Utah. It was a 50s Diner type place. There was an In-N-Out at that exit, but I didn’t find out until we were leaving. Just before reaching Moab on US 191, Brian made us pull over, and into Arches National Park. He had been there before and ... Read more >

Salt Lake City, Utah

Y’all, Here’s the thing: I have kind of a soft spot for Salt Lake City. Lord knows, the city hasn’t earned that, but I have many happy memories here. In 2001 I lived in San Francisco, California and worked in a soul band called The Dynatones. We traveled all across this great land of ours, but we seem to have spent a lot of time in Reno Nevada, and even more ... Read more >

Canada

Citizens, We drove into Canada and decided to stay in the town of Carstairs. It is within striking distance of Camrose; a couple hours give or take.  We got checked in, and I discovered that, again, the internet worked, but not well enough for me to do what I needed to do.  So I took a walk. I walked around the town and found a bar that was open. I had a ... Read more >

Bozeman, Virginia City, and crossing into Canada

Readers, We load in at Virginia City in 45 minutes, which means I’ve got to burn some rubber and get this blog up! Lucky for the blog, ooVoo isn’t working at home. Leaving Boise was rough. Not just rough because we hate to leave Boise (true), but rough because we had to do so quite early. We had a 9am van call. While I realize that 9am is when most of the ... Read more >

Boise, ID

Friends, It’s happening again – I’m starting to hear from people who read this blog. Thanks! Where did I last leave off? Vegas? We left Vegas on a route agreed upon by all parties. If I haven’t mentioned it yet, US 93 between Phoenix and Twin Falls Idaho is just wonderful. It looks like The Coyote and Road Runner. It looks like the movie Cars. I guess maybe cartoon-lovers can really appreciate ... Read more >

VEGAS!!

Friends, Well, we made it to Las Vegas Nevada. Of course the popular slogan is “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.”  With us it’s more like “What doesn’t happen in Vegas stays in Vegas.”  Brian won just a few clams on the gaming floor, Ed and Basil did a lot of walking around (mostly in circles) and Scott moved from his sleeping post in the van to his sleeping post ...
